This is a quick post to show how to turn off those annoying iTunes Store arrow links that light up next to every column in iTunes 8. Apple have taken out the checkbox to hide them in the preferences. I'm not sure if they did it to simplify that monster of a preferences window or if they wanted to send more people to the iTunes store, but! I'm glad they haven't disabled it altogether.
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSEThat is all.

hey,
as well as doing this, if you simply use the parental controls to disbale the itunes store - this also disables the stupid buttons!
I cannot thank you enough. Seriously. Thank you.
where do I put this?
@Bob
You copy and paste it into Terminal.app
It's in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder.
@ Andy Kim,
Im sorry, those little arrows piss me off, but although uve been really helpful to Bob, i still dnt knw where to put tht command :S
is it C://PrgFiles/itunes? or in the iTunes application itself?
Dave,
I'm sorry that I didn't mention that this tip is for Mac OS X users. I'm not sure where iTunes keeps the preference in Windows.
Nice fix, thanks.
Does anybody know how to add colour labels to songs in the iTunes browser. The song's row in the List view of the browser would be in the colour chosen. A much clearer way to select tracks than the stupid star rating. BTW I don't want to colour label tracks in the finder (Doug's scripts)
I know this isn't an iTunes blog but nobody ever seems to reply to the question.
I think nobody's replying because nobody knows how to do it. As far as I know, you can't do that.
Christian - THANK YOU!
Thanks Andy.
