Tangerine! 0.9.5 Released

Last night we released Tangerine! 0.9.5. The new name is now officially Tangerine!.

We haven't updated the appcast because due to the name change, Sparkle does not work. Those of you who already are running Tangerine will have to download it again.

This new version uses an entirely different approach for fetching album art. It will read iTunes 7 album arts and it should be more stable. The BPM export to iTunes should be much more reliable as well. It wasn't all just bug fixes though. We did put in a bit more polish and a few new features as well. My favorite change is the orange LCD. Anyhow, you can read the full release note to see what we've been up to.

Good name! It's great to see more artwork and I really like the new LCD too.

Any chance Tangerine! wil support multiple iTunes libraries? I have a giant one I keep on an external disc and a smaller subset I keep on my laptop. I switch between them using LIbra, and I don't want to have to rescan every time.

Thanks,

Griffin

If one emoticon could say it all, I would choose <3.

Thanks for the wonderful app, as you can see it made my day.

Great idea, so so execution.

I was able to create one playlist. Then, no matter what, I couldn't get Tangerine! to create another (even after I deleted the first). What gives?

Most impressing, how fast your updating and bugfixing is done! Respect and thanks for that.

There is only one more feature that I would like to see in future update. I would like to generate playlists which are based on some given criteria - e.g. on an intelligent playlist which contains a pre-selection. Probably you have already thought about something like that as well?

Hey, my iTunes library isn't in the usual place and Tangerine! can't find it... I just get the error message but there's no option that will allow me to indicate the correct path. Can this be changed?

Fernando Lins

I'm amazed out how fast the BPM analyzer is. Most of my songs though are getting half of their actual BPM (like 85 instead of 170). But other than that I just love it.

i love the idea of this app, but i'm having a big problem with my library....only about 20% of my songs could be analyzed. all the others come up as error/unknown. this makes me a sad mac.

I blogged about this app! you can read my post here: and maybe THIS is the way to get that liscense promised in the original tangerine post: http://jake2293.vox.com/library/post/a-brand-new-citrussysweet-app.html

BTW, love the name change. Tangerine! (with the !), kind of like Panic! At The Disco (my fave. band).

Good luck with the app

Hello everyone. Thank you for your comments.
We are still fixing bugs and issues so please be patient. This is beta after all.

mentalground0: We're going to look at that problem very soon. The same thing happens to some mp3 files that I have too.

David

The vast majority of my tracks (24238) were analysed and very fast only a day and a bit to do so. Beatunes took 6 weeks to do the same list.

My quibble is that some come up with error and if I try double BPM then amounts appear. This really should not happen as many users may not be skilled enough to be able to do it manually. Though I have a stubborn few where error appears.

Dmitry

Great news, thanks Andy.

I like how this program looks, it's user friendly, analysis was very fast (30minutes) and only about 5% of my 5,000+song library came up as "errors" but a huge problem was the accuracy of the BPMs analyzed on the majority of songs -- for example a very slow Billie Holiday song clocked at 179 while several songs I use for my step class were rated at 71. I am hoping that future updates will be more accurate -- it would really save me alot of time.
