Voice Candy is really polished and fun, but I was hoping it would be real-time, which is the beauty of Photo Booth.

Andy Kim

Hi Russ,

That feature was left out because it creates feedback if used with built-in microphones on the laptops. We may include it as a preference in the future though.

Mark Anderson

Wow, amazing, clean, slick, perfect, fun. Oh, and the web site rocks as well. Did you guys do it yourself?

Don Youngner

This is great but..... It would be great if it interfaced with ichat inorder to sound like darth vader talking to your friends.

Just My two cents

jimi

You peeps are quickly becoming the kings of mac UI, I love the attention to detail you put into you apps, beauty and function not many can do it. Amazing keep it up.

One thing but, u gotta change ur about windows, they ugly not even a disolve close. Have a look at File Buddy about window. The funkiest I seen yet.

and yes I do have a fetish about about windows :)

Tim Uruski

Great application, lots of fun! Especially the Vader feature, hopefully Lucasfilm doesn't come down on that one.

Andy Kim

Thank you for all your feedback.

Mark: Yes the website was done by yours truly except for a few icons and the background pattern. You can see the authors of those in the credits page that is linked to at the bottom of every page. The icons for Voice Candy were done by the talented Mischa McLachlan.

Don: A few other people suggested this and we will start investigating if this would be a feasible addition to Voice Candy

Tim: Thank you for your thoughts. I sincerely hope so too!

Aaron

Hi,
I have just downloaded VoiceCandy and I think it is very interesting. Some voices are not so good (the telephone or the old radio) and I hope you will add new voices in future versions. I would also like to be able to record a voice message and hear the different effects on the same recording by clicking on different buttons. Now you have to record new voice messages for any effect.
Btw, we are going to review the software on MacZine, the first italian e-zine dedicated to shareware and freeware world of Macintosh.

Bye!

Collin Allen

Wow, you guys have made some absolutely gorgeous stuff, here! Yet another small Mac software developer team that just "gets it." It's great little apps like these, supported by dedicated folks, which make the Mac platform as enjoyable as it is. Keep up the delicious work!

Pam

Is there a version available for windows XP?

Andy Kim

Pam: We don't make Windows software. Perhaps you should consider a Mac next time you are in the market for a new computer?

Collin and Aaron: Thank you!

Maggie

I enjoyed trying out Voice candy, think it's cool, but what really got me enthusiastic is the email ability. Now, people will pay attention to what I tell them.

ha!

Jeff

This is a great app, but I do think (like mentioned above) that it needs a couple extra voice settings and some of them need just a little bit of tweaking (sore throat, phone). Either that or the price needs to be dropped a bit. When I first started trying it out I was pretty set to purchase, but now that I've used it a couple of times the voices that are included are getting a little old.

Just my two cents,

keep up the good work

Wayne Norman

Just bought Voice Candy after a few days' hilarity.

One question:

How long can the file be (in minutes)? I have iMac G5 OSX, 1 gb ram.

Looking forward to add'l voices.

Andy Kim

Hi Wayne,

Voice Candy will record until you run out of space on your hard drive. I just made a 3 minute recording which took 1.1 MB so a day's worth of recording (24hrs) will take 528 MB. So you could record for a month if you had enough space! (about 15 GB)

Eric S.

Any chance of doing a "Borg"??

John

Just wanted to say that this is a cool little program. I'd like to see real-time feed back as an option and be able to apply the voices to one recording as other users have suggested. I'd also LOVE to see a Cylon voice. Vader is my favorite now. Great work.

Becky

This is a great little app... I love it when developers put so much effort into the GUI and usability. My only question/quibble is that I'd really like o have some control over the output format. With or without the voice effects, this is the best voice recorder I've found, but it's not worth buying if I have to fire up another app to make it an mp3.

Josh

Any idea when we might be able to see a version that allows real-time voice effects? I've got some ideas for a halloween display we're doing this year, and being able to do some real-time voice with people would be great.

Andy Kim

Before Halloween, definitely :)

ATTN Don Youngner & Pam...this may help answer BOTH your questions:

...a fantastic alternative for those stuck with a PC....seriously though, it IS a pretty fine voice changer with many free extra voice changing downloads.

cheers

Jonathan

I am not too impressed with this app. Ok the voices are a bit funny but nothing too impressive other than vader and most importantly the voice altering can't be done in real time. There are so many programs for pcs that can do this in real time with a lot more options for changing a voice but nothing similar is available yet for macs.

Santiago

Please, make it realtime soon! If you really whant us to think about it as photobooth for sound you must do it!
Great app, when realtime it will bring lots more of fun!

someone .

i just dowloaded voice candy for my mac but it won't open . it comes up in my applications folder but no matter how many times i click it . it won't open . any suggestions ?

Andy Kim

Are you running Mac OS X 10.4?

Kim M.

I am running mac os x will not open Candy in application after down load.
What do I do next?
